Dear Friends,
We are sorry for the delay in announcing this event. As you may be aware, UNESCO is experiencing serious financial constraints and we were hoping that our Administration, having accepted some time ago to host the 2012 Games, would provide some financial support, as in the past, despite the current difficulties. We were only informed yesterday that it would not be possible and that we have been invited, if we cannot not find alternative solutions, then the games should be postponed to 2013.
As we have already informed you, taking into account the current circumstances, we have been able, to negotiate with the city of the Biarritz that has kindly agreed to cover some logistics costs.
We are now pleased to inform you that the 2012 IAG will be held in Biarritz, France from 10 to 13 May 2012.
The disciplines for the IAG are:
Athletics men: Minimum 4 Maximum 6Athletic women: Minimum 3 Maximum 5
Badminton: 6 per team - 4 men and 2 women minimum; 4 and 8 players: 5 men and 3 women;
Basketball: 10 players - can be a mixed team;
Bridge: minimum 4 players; maximum 6 players;
Chess: up to two teams: 6 per team - 5 players plus 1 reserve;
Darts: 8 per team - 6 players plus two reserves;
Football: Men (10 per team - 7 players plus 3 reserves) at the Natural earth football field;
Football: Women (7 per team – 5 players plus two reserves);
Golf: 6 players per team - mixed - maximum 2 teams;
Pétanque: 3 triplets - 9 players plus two reserves = 11;
Table Tennis Men: 5 per team - 3 players plus two reserves;
Table Tennis Women: 5 per team - 3 players plus two reserves);
Tennis: 10 per team - 5 Men and 5 Women) (8 sand courts and the possibility of 4 indoor courts in case of bad weather);
Swimming: 10 per team - 5 men and 5 women (A 50 metre outdoor pool and in the case of bad weather there will be the use of a 25/30 metre indoor pool);
Volleyball Men: 9 per team - 6 players plus 3 reserve;
Volleyball Women: 9 per team - 6 players plus 3 reserve.
The costs will be 519 Euro per person per double room for four nights (including 10 euro contribution to the IAG Secretariat). Additional charge for a single room = 25 Euro per night. This price includes a meal (lunch or dinner) from 10 to 13 May and the Gala Dinner. Each meal includes a soft drink or 25cl of wine per person and a bottle of water. Drinks for the Gala Dinner are also provided, extra drinks at your charge.
Children: 0-2 Free; 3-12 = 50%; 13-16 = 75%
Extra nights have to be paid directly to the hotels. We shall negotiate special prices for the extra nights.
Transfers will be made from both Biarritz and San Sebastian (Spain) airports and Biarritz railway station (free of charge).
The registration of the teams should be made through the IAG website: http://registration.interagencygames.org which is currently being updated. The IAG Secretariat Daniel BRIDI <Daniel.BRIDI@unodc.org> will provide you in the coming weeks with your passwords for the registration.
We would request you to transfer 50% of the participation fees before 16 March at the latest and the balance on 20 April to the following bank account:

Any request for a refund should be justified either by a medical certificate or by work obligations such as travel on mission. No cancellation will be accepted after 25 April 2012.
